Pool Safety Tips for Children Pt. I

It is very common for people to forget about pool safety when they prepare to go have some fun in the sun, but water safety awareness is something that should be on your mind all year long. Even in shallow waters, a life can still be in danger. Here are some great pool safety tips to keep your friends and family safe when water is involved:

  • Watch your child—always! Even when you are just bathing your child in the bathtub, be sure that they are always within arm’s reach! If you have to leave the room, take your child with you.
  • A child is not an adult. Even if Sally acts like a grown up at 5 years old, she is still a child! Therefore, she does not need to be the one bathing her little siblings or watching them when you leave the room.
  • Even empty buckets can be harmful! If there is a basin or bucket that has a small amount of liquid in it, it still poses a threat to your children. Make sure you empty all liquids out of containers and store them away from children.
  • Lock it up! Children are very curious so you can never be too safe. They make locks for your toilet seat now to protect your children in case they wander into the bathroom.
